Project Name/Idea: Helping to build and grow YJI – Strategy Phase II: Develop Execution Strategies for Individual Executive Committees

Your Name: Mitesh Bohra

Team Members:  YJI Executive Committee

1. What Vision2020 Gap are you filling?

Through YJI strategy of:

  • Expand – Our Reach
  • Evolve – Our Practices
  • Enable – Progress Through Execution

Vision2020  - Energize

2.  What problem are you solving?

·         Help YJI overcome execution issues by devising focused execution strategy

3.  Why are you solving it?

  • YJI has a challenge in terms of people’s knowledge in how to execute on tasks while keeping the YJI strategy and philosophy aligned
  • There is also a motivation factor that subsides due to execution in either a different direction or with insufficient energy levels in the team members

4.  What is your solution?

  • Sit down with each Executive Committee member starting with Projects and Marketing to create execution plans and goals on quarterly/yearly basis

5.  Who is your target audience? Where is it applicable?

  • Target audience essentially is emerging leaders in young generation to enable them to successfully execute. Location, primarily India but willing to help other organizations like YJA/YJP wherever needed

6.  Has a related  problem been solved? Where? By Who? Can you partner with someone?

  • I am not aware of an existing solution. Need to discuss with JAINA LRP and/or YJI Board.

7.  Resources Needed

nPeople / Volunteers:

  • Full-time people working for YJI, which can act as support staff to maintain momemntum
  • Strong EC leaders (Team building under way)

nConsultants / Suppliers / Services: (Example: Web, publishing, brochure, etc.)

  • Online tracking system (Will utilize YJI IT and Web Committee)

nFinancial: How much $ you will require

  • Approx $5,000 for 1st year to cover travel and related cost of communication
  • Approx $20,000 for 1st year to cover the salaries of the full-time staff
  • Office space (may be shared with JAINA)

8. What type of talent do you need?  Do you have the right team?  Are you the right leader?

  • Dedicated and committed leaders
  • Strong communicators
  • “Go-getters”

  • Still in the process of building the right team

  • I have created a commercial organization from 0 to 100 and have seen many ground level execution challenges. But, at the same time, I am a believer in the philosophy of finding one’s replacement as the most important leadership attribute. In my current capacity, I feel I am able to contribute value to the organization

9.  How will you create awareness and promote the project?

  • Contact each EC leader and try to establish phone/in-person sessions (individual and in group)

10.  How will get the funding?

  • Need to speak to YJI Corporate body or YJI board about this

11.  What are the first 100 day, 200 day, 300 day milestones? How will the product be sustained?

  • 100 days
    • Projects and Marketing Committees

  • 200 days
    • Operations and IT Committees

  • 1 year
    • All EC Committees

  • This will be sustained through:
    • Yearly review of execution strategy and re-alignment/goal setting
    • Quarterly review of execution process and fine-tuning as needed

We got to revive Jainism in the country of its origin, YJI is a movement, support it
Very powerful work can inspire, YJI program
Finding the right people is the biggest challenge
Good work, local to India
Great idea, I like it a lot on its initial strategy; YJI has done so much, we need to revive Jainism in India and the young, YJI is a good platform to takeoff from

India scope, add global flavor

YJI is great idea; strategy has not been formalized
Creation of YJI group; Focus on networking and social activities
Indian Jains are in desperate need of unity; appeal to everyone via a celebrity

Great long term impact project; Creative fund raising
Excellent results so far, take it forward; Hurdles of funds, long term sustainability
Youths in India get attached; Need help in
Important globalization project; Should get involved with donors (business owners in India)
Spread JWOL in India
Very impressive, lot was accomplished in short time; Work on link of simplified message of 3A to even more pronounced messages of Jainism
Create more awareness of YJI even in N. America
Key to developing a strong connection to our motherland; Tough to get wide-spread buy-in in India
Good initiative to bring Jains in India to come as a secular platform; Broader representation of board from India rather than outside.  This organization should be a bigger entity over time than any other entity on Jains.
