Kellogg Conference Peer Comments
Very critical to bring in Jains in the rural even in the mainstream
Get outreach to Jain community, project should be initiated by people in need
It will be important to encourage in person interaction through joint celebration of Jain festival
Good point, improvement
I like the idea, will need committed people to make an extra effort to reach out
Very important for early childhood development
Important to involve forgotten Jains
Help JAINA create a "rural center" committee for everyone
Urgent Need, needs formal organized structure
Great way to bring Jains together; Build a Jain rural directory
Something needed to help rural Jains; Needs to be more well-defined
Good understanding of problem; Need to brainstorm on how we reach these people in rural areas
Great concept; Need to identify who they are
Large scope, can expand reach for JWOL; Would require significant human resources/commitment
Spreading Jainism to children an adults beyond metropolitan cities
acknowledging the need; Needs the initiating before the project is in full speed
Prevents erosion of Jainism among NA; Resource requirements
It captures need of rural Jain education; Define boundary of each rural area, so it can be practically implemented
Definitely an area that is not addressed; Need to create a network to contact people
Key to maintaining numbers as Jains move out of cities; Coordination is a challenge
Very good grass root initiative for Jain youth in rural area who possibly have higher rate of not following Jainism given the lack of center, community; This project should be linked with web based projects like jainworld.com for continuous education (Virtual Jain PAthshala). Also, rural cities/communities should be connected with major Jain centers in nearby area for 3-4 gatherings on a yearly basis.
